Mboweni encourages Gauteng road users to pay e-tolls

Finance Minister Tito Mboweni, says government has decided to retain the user pay principle amid on-going resistance to e-tolls in Gauteng.

He made the comments in his medium term budget policy statement in Parliament.

Minister Mboweni says government has made the decision after considering several options to resolve the impasse over the e-tolls in Gauteng.

He’s encouraged road users to pay e-tolls.

“Not paying for your e-tolls has already led to our roads deteriorating; we have been unable to maintain the network.”

“I urge the nation to please pay your bills, we need to build a culture of payment as government services can only be sustainable if all of us that can pay for services.”
